No Golf or BBQ
As a lot of you know our plan was to go to where there was great BBQ and Golf. Since we have to remain here for a few more weeks and the weather is rainy thus no golf, we went in search of BBQ. We knew of 3 places to try, the first had meat smoking and smelt so good but was not opened. The second place we found said Kansas style BBQ, we parked and found it was closed for the season. The third place named Porky's. With a name like that we thought alas we have come to rib paradise. Smell was great, the decor was nice, the waitress was friendly. We ordered ribs and sweet tea and sat with napkins tucked in our shirt collars waiting for some BBQ. No golf but good ribs makes up for some disappointments. The ribs came, 3 bones, potato salad and 2 slices of white bread. The potato salad was not as good as a store bought brand, the bread was a little stale and the ribs were covered with a large amount of cold BBQ sauce, the ribs were just barely warm and not very good. Jackie didn't even finish her ribs, which under normal conditions I would have gobbled them up. We left thinking we still had not had BBQ or golf. As we drove by Porky's on our way home I threw an old golf ball a them. A little golf goes a long way in making my day. Will begin our search again for a good BBQ joint

We have been spending alot of time with the grandkids the past week or so. Kayla our 2nd oldest made the finals in tennis. Won doubles in division 2 and went on to win doubles in sections. Now she moves on to North Calif state. This weekend we are making a day trip to Clearlake Ca to visit some friends ( Jack and Susan). I had to break a plan of mine to never wear long pants again. We have to stay here until the middle of November for my Catract surgery. Rain and wind and shorts don't go together. Had planned on heading south by now. Ventura or Vegas not being in wet northern California. Today we are going to window shop in downtown Yuba City. They have redone an old section of town and put in many new shops and restaurants.

Still Here
For everyone who are wondering why we have not posted any updates, we just got internet service.
We are still at our children's houses above Sacramento and it appears we are going to be in the area for awhile. Once we got over here I got sick first then Cliff got sick. We decided to take care of some Doctor's while here and it ends up that Cliff has a catarac that has to be taken off so that surgery is set for Nov. 17. We will staying in this area until after the surgery and then take off.
Right now we are planning on going to Oregon on Oct 21 and coming back the 24th. We are going to leave the trailer here and just drive up and stay at some friends house there. Cliff has a Dr appt on the 25th and then one on Nov 3rd. After those two appts we might move to the river for a few days or down to Sacramento but will stay close to this area until after the surgery.
After that we are heading to Southern California to see John and Robin and then over to Brenda's. We will then go to Vegas to see our friends Carl and Judy then head out across the country at our pace.

Rough start
When we started talking about traveling like this all of our friends were telling us "Your going to run into bad weather.", " What if you brake down?",They have snow or rain there. We " Our response was the same " We will deal with it." It would have been nice to have gotten out of our driveway before we had problems. We got the truck hooked up to the 5th wheel and as we were bringing up the landing gear one of them broke. Naturally since it was a Saturday we couldn't find a service center open. We spent the next two nights hooked up to the truck and sleeping at an angle. We were finally able to get it fixed on Monday.
We are now north of Sacramento visiting the kids and Grandkids. Yesterday we went and saw our number 2 Granddaughter play tennis. She won her match with no problem. She is a senior in High School this year and has just applied to Humbolt and Monterey for college. She did really well on her SAT's (1670) so we don't think that will be a problem. She is just waiting to hear now.
Today we are going to Granddaughter number 3's basketball game and then out to dinner. After that we are not sure we are going to stay in the area. We are planning on another week or two.

Today the journey begins
Last night we had dinner with a group of our friends at the restaurant that Kelly works at Was a going away party. This morning we are going to take Kelly to breakfast then coming back and hooking up and driving 80 miles to Boomtown. It is near Reno. On Sunday we are going just north of Sacramento to see the older kids and Grandkids. We will be in that area for a couple of weeks. While we are there it will be Cliff's and Carrie's birthday on the 6th and mine on the 9th. John and Robin are talking about flying up to celebrate with us and see the kids. If the weather does not allow them to do that then in a few weeks we will be heading south to see them and then over to see Brenda and Randy. After that we will be heading across country and seeing friends and family.
We are hoping to post about once a week with what we have been doing and what we are going to do.
