Yuma again

We are back in Yuma. This is the lovely rv park we are staying in. The only reason we stay here is we can walk to mexico. Has been hot, around a 100 degrees. But cooling down today. We are staying here for 9 days. Jackie's cousin is coming here Friday for a few days with there 5th wheel. Not much to report. Went to Mexico yesterday and walked around. Not crowed it is still a little early for all of the snowbirds. I am still having trouble with posting the blog. Now we keep losing our internet connection. Not even sure what I am writing will post. When we leave here off to east of Yuma for a few days then to El Paso tx. Think we will go to San Antonio for a week then on to the coast near Corpus Christi.

Moved to Santa Paula

Enjoyed our stay in Santa Maria. Our friends Carl and Judy made it over. We had a great dinner at a place in the town of Nipomo called Jocko's. BBQ food. It is an old place that has been there for many years. We were there on a Monday and there were so many people that they had to wait outside. Carl and I got to play golf at Vandenberg AFB. We both were stationed there in the late 60's and into the early 70'sWe went to the local Moose Lodge and made some new friends. The bartender was a lady named Christy Love and she was a character. Santa Maria has a large spanish population

Pismo Beach

Wow, we have been having trouble with this blog. For some reason it hasn't been letting me upload pictures. Today it only let me put up three. We will keep on working on this problem. Also, our trusty Kodak camera had been acting up. It would take a couple pictures then just stop working. So I had to put it out for retirement aka trash can. We bought a new camera a few days ago and it is alot smaller. You can put it in your pocket, not like the old one which was like packing a mail box around you neck. Anyway we are now in Santa Maria, a few miles south of Pismo Beach. Will be here until Wednesday. Then on to Santa Paula to visit with Jackie's brother and sister-in-law. A few days there then on to Yuma. Plan on staying there for a week. We will stay in the same RV park we stayed at when we were last in Yuma. We like to walk across the boarder and wander around. Jackie's cousin Brenda and her husband Randy plan on coming there also for a few days. Pepper is doing fine. Her back legs bother her some and she was having trouble climbing the three steps up to the bedroom. I put a small rug at the base of the steps and she get up a lot easier now. Weather was a little warm for a couple days but today mid 70's.

Visit to Pumpkin Patch

Jackie and I went with the family to a local farm that has a huge area with a petting zoo, shops, corn mazes, train and pony rides and a massive pumpkin field. Sitting in the hay is our oldest daughter Carrie, then our great granddaughter Annabelle, then our granddaughter Melissa and our youngest Kelly. It was a perfect day weather wise, we all had a great time. Having grand kids make you feel grand, having great grand kids make you feel OLD! We are leaving Friday and moving to Loomis (next to Sacramento) to visit my sister and a few friends. Saturday night a friend (Bill Edwards) and I are attending a party for current and past employees that worked at NEC. Sunday we are heading out for southern California, still a few loose ends as to our schedule before we get there. We will be visiting Jackie's brother and sister-in-law, then on to her cousin for a visit. We are excited to get going, heading across country for a year or so is something we have been planning for along time. The weather here is lite rain but will clear out later today. Today and tomorrow I need to clean the trailer including the roof. This is the job that I don't enjoy doing, to much ladder work.

Pictures that didn't make it

Here are a few pictures of our time in Eureka. There is a marsh area that the county maintains with trails and a little visitors center. It was a good walk to take Pepper on. As most of you know we have moved to Yuba City at our daughters. Had some doctor visits to do. All is well. Clean bill of health for Jackie and I. My vision has become so good after the cataract removal that my old glasses were causing vision problems. I now have 20/20 in the left eye and 20/25 in the right without glasses. I got new lens even though I really don't need them. But by some correction and bifocals the vision is perfect. We are going to stay here a couple more weeks. A few things we want to do before going. Our plan is to leave this area on the 9th of Oct. and head south toward Jackie's brother, who lives near Ventura Ca. May make a stop along the way to Ventura and play golf with a friend (Carl) at Vandenberg AFB if our schedules work out. After John and Robin's visit on to a visit with Jackie's cousin in Riverside County. We will then head east and work our way to the east coast. No time line or route cast in stone. Just mosey to the Texas coast. Thinking we will be there for Christmas. Then continue on along the coast weather permitting to Florida. I know the blog really slows down while we are here but not much to post. Just doctor visits and not much else going on. I guess I will have to get out and stir up some action. Weather has been HOT!

Arcata Farmers Market

Arcata has one of the biggest and best farmers market we have ever been to. On Saturday they it in a plaza that is one block in size and the vendors are set up around the plaza. We got some amazing tomatoes and carrots. After shopping I took the veggies back to the truck and we just sat and people watched. Oh, and I had a few chicken wings, hot dog, pizza and just one taco. People watching is fatting!! More on the farmers market in next blog. We moved from the best weather 62-65 degree to the worst 105 in Yuba city yesterday. What a shock to the body. We haven't had any weather much over 80 in almost a year and for the past 2 months not over 70. Visting the kids and doctors. Not sure how long we will be here depends on doctor scheduling.

More of our visit to Arcata farmers market

The picture of the kids sitting and eating is our granddaughter with some of her friends. They gave her a ride to met us. After I took the picture and met them I told the boys now I have a picture of them, know their names and where they are from and if anything happens to Kayla I will be hunting them. They just stared at me with a concerned look on their faces until Kayla blew it and laughed at me. Besides all of the great veggies, it is an event in the plaza. There was a band playing on people of all ages were sitting around and enjoying the great weather. And no the two girls playing was not the band.
